Alaska and Building Performance Center (BPC) Working Together

Alaska just partnered with the Building Performance Center (BPC) in Bellingham to provide training to assessors, inspectors, contractors and crew leads. We spent a week in the classroom, hosted by one of the agencies Rural Alaska Community Action Program, and the field with Chris Clay  and Dan Berube from Alaska reviewing the BPI 1200 standard, QCI requirements and JTA’s, the SWS, the Field Guides for Alaska and Washington and relevant variance requests as well as some basic building science.  We spent two days on applied science in two great off site houses, one a mobile home and one a condo.

The week was a great opportunity for networking and peer exchange, trading tips on how to tackle complex problems, and helping some of our newest technicians to understand the diagnostics a little better.  Alaska and BPC have a long partnership in in sharing and exchanging technical documents and strategies.  The week of the training we saw our first snowfall and a big drop in temperature to about 10 degrees from a balmy 45 degrees the week before.
